Shadows of the Solstice Market
Once every seven years, the hidden alleyways behind the old textile mill transformed into the Solstice Market, a bazaar trading exclusively in intangible commodities. Silas wandered through the glowing stalls, past vendors offering bottled laughter, harvested daydreams, and fragments of forgotten bravery. He had come searching for something very specific, though he struggled to articulate it even to himself. As the evening chill deepened, an elderly merchant beckoned him toward a small wooden box filled with grey, unassuming smoke. The merchant explained that inside rested the unsaid apologies of a lifetime, heavy things people carried until their backs broke. Silas reached out, hesitated for a brief second, and then purchased a small vial of them. Returning home to his empty house, he opened the glass stopper, allowing the weight to finally lift from his shoulders and dissipate into the quiet night air, bringing him profound peace at last.
