The Railway Platform Promise

Every morning at three, Julian kneaded dough while the stars still flickered above the quiet cobblestone alleys. Across the narrow street, Clara adjusted her telescope, charting distant galaxies before the sun swallowed the night sky. For months they existed merely as shadows behind glowing windows, until the morning Julian burned a batch of croissants and left them on her doorstep with a note written in flour-dusted handwriting. Clara smiled up at his window and replied with a small star chart pointing to the constellation of bakers. That simple exchange sparked a nightly tradition of sharing warm pastries and distant star tales, bridging the vast chasm between the kitchen floor and the endless cosmos, transforming two lonely routines into a shared universe of sweet affection.
